Visited the Yard Market yet? It's a little bit of Hoxton cool - right in the middle of Godalming - offering unique handcrafted goods by local artisan producers.
The world is full of creative types – and here at Muddy, we’re big fans of anything that’s not run-of-the-mill and mass produced. So we were thrilled to stumble upon the Yard Market in Godalming, a brilliant new gift and interiors shop which is selling the arts and crafts of around 65 different makers.
Actually, it’s more than a shop. This is a bright, modern and colourful community space. Almost all of the artists crafts people are local and almost all are women.
The Yard Market was the idea of friends Danielle Giornandi and Laura Goddings, who wanted to set something up that would help people, but also fit into their own lives as busy mums. It’s a little bit of bit of Hoxton cool, dropped right into Surrey.
Already, this shop has been a massive hit within the town – no doubt because it’s a shop that as well as offering plenty of cool, quirky and unusual, is also supporting a huge bunch of local and talented people who otherwise may not have a forum to sell their creative wares. You’ll find a wonderful mix of handcrafted goodies from jewellery and clothing, to paintings, drawings and handmade cards. There are also fabulous knitted throws and cushions, beauty products and candles.
As well as stocking a wonderful and ever-changing range of handcrafted good, the Yard Market also hosts a range of workshops including those where you’ll make giant knit scatter cushions, herb and oils workshops and leather purse making workshops. There’s also a kids’ wellbeing Doodle Workshop every Tuesday after school ideal for kids in Year 3 and older.
And recently they’ve converted the old storage cupboard into an Earth Conscious Corner where you can stock up on shampoo and conditioner, household cleaning products and pet care products.
The Yard Market is in the space that used to be occupied by The Little Shed behind the Godalming Food Company at 99-100 High Street.
