Property flirt: Cool and contemporary in Oxted

Ready to play? This cool, contemporary family home is set within an exclusive estate just outside a vibrant Surrey town, and an easy commute to London. So can you guess the price?

Shall we celebrate the start of August and all this glorious sunshine (hmmm) with a nose around a gorgeous family home in Surrey? Yes, I think so too.

Usual rules apply – look at the pics and description, guess the price and do a victory dance around the kitchen/office/dentist’s waiting room, when you get it spot on.

So, a few little factoids first… what we have here for today’s viewing pleasure is a sensational six-bedroom detached family home, ideally positioned just a stone’s throw from Oxted town centre.

There are good school, both state and independent, nearby and good connections to London from Oxted Station into Central London. You’re also just 3 miles from M25 junction 6, offering good motorway connections (hello south coast) and an easy drive to Gatwick and Heathrow airports as well as the Channel Tunnel. . Of course, all this means the price goes up. Take note!

Now, let’s talk size – because, as we all know, size does matter. And this one’s a whopper. Six bedrooms, six bathrooms and five receptions rooms, all set out over four floors and with fabulous views out over the countryside.

Even the front door is big, and it leads into a wide reception hall which leads through to a large open plan kitchen / breakfast / family room, which has bi-fold doors that open to a balcony. A separate dining room and a sitting room also come off the reception, as well as a study.

There are more mod cons here than you can shake a stick at. In the kitchen we’re talking heat, stain and scratch resistant work surface, self cleaning ovens, integrated appliances, mixer taps and waste disposal units. There’s under-floor heating throughout, except the top floor.

Carry on up the stairs to the second floor and you’ll find another two bedrooms with a shared bathroom.

Back down the stairs, and the lower ground floor is home to an entertainment area that includes a games room and a tv room, and doors leading out to the garden and rear terrace. There’s also a handy utility room and a useful shower room.

And then there’s the garden. the rear garden has even cleverly landscaped with space for alfresco dining and a hot tub. At the front there’s a driveway with plenty of space to park the cars, plus a detached double garage.

So, there you have it. Time to tot up the numbers and see where you are price-wise. A faberoo family home with a ‘move in and just hang up a few pictures’ kind of standard. Brilliant if you’re not a lover of sledge-hammering walls à la Kirstie Allsopp.
