Five ways weddings have changed in summer 2022

How does the big white wedding look in a post-pandemic world? It's bigger, more elaborate and more glamorous than ever, of course! The team at Botleys Mansion in Chertsey spill the beans on this summer's biggest wedding trends.

Big weddings are back!

The summer of 2022 has show us the wedding boom is back and couples are celebrating their nuptials like never before. The post-Covid life-is-too-short attitude means brides and grooms are going all out for the big day – whether it’s booking their dream band, adding a custom cocktail, including a fireworks display or inviting all of their guests to celebrate their day with them, rathe than the traditional split of day an evening guests. At Botleys Mansion, we hope this spontaneity and happy-go-lucky attitude is here to stay as we love listening to all of our couple’s grand ideas and seeing them come to life.

A new love for the great outdoors

More and more couples are looking for a wedding venue with beautiful gardens for alfresco ceremonies – even if the British weather doesn’t always play ball. At Botleys Mansion, there’s plenty of space – inside and out – for wedding guests. And the change in legislation in April this year which allows outdoor ceremonies, means the wedding planners at Botleys have been able to get creative with their gardens and find new spaces for couples to day their ‘I dos’.

Light it up

Neon wedding signs are big, and bold… and they’re here to stay! The beauty of the neon sign is that it suits almost any backdrop, whether it’s a rustic bar, a delicate flower wall, an industrial frame or a grand Palladian country house like Botleys Mansion.

Time to change!

Forget one wedding dress – in 2022 brides are opting for multiple outfit changes throughout their day. Some choose to wear a big lavish wedding gown for their nuptials, followed by a slinkier dress for dinner and dancing. But jumpsuits, too are making an appearance after the first dance – apparently dancing the night away is easier in a jumpsuit. Whatever their choice, brides are going all out for their evening outfit – sequins, tiaras, wedding suits – you name it, we’ve seen it and we love this new trend.

Big bands!

In keeping with the ‘go big or go home’ attitude, more and more couples are booking big bands to make their wedding day that bit more special. Whether it’s a brass band to accompany the canapés and fizz or a 10-person band to see the guests through a night on the dance floor, there’s no doubt live music bring an extra element of luxury and glamour to any wedding – and makes for a night to remember.
