<p>When my teenagers were small people, I spent many a happy day with them at <a href="https://godstonefarm.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Godstone Farm.</a> We hosted my son&#8217;s 5th birthday party at the farm and were regular visitors &#8211; both when they were pre-schoolers and later when they were at school, on weekend and during school holidays. </p>



<p>I&#8217;ve been back a couple of times since, but last week spent a full day there with my mate and her two daughters, aged 7 and 11. It was a day of all seasons &#8211; the sun shone, and then the heavens opened &#8211; and yet we still had the perfect day. There&#8217;s plenty to fill a full day &#8211; and more &#8211; with lots of undercover things to do, and plenty in the fresh air too.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-lowdown">THE LOWDOWN</h2>

<p>More than just a farm,&nbsp;Godstone Farm is a brilliant day out for families, with plenty to keep kids of all ages entertained &#8211; and more than 500 animals to see.</p>



<p>Set on 80 acres, just outside the pretty village of Godstone near Oxted, it&#8217;s a working farm with plenty of animals to meet. But theres&#8217;s also a fabulous adventure playground and The World of Dinosaur Roar! Discovery Trail. Over recent years it&#8217;s seen some serious investment with the addition of a new indoor soft-play barn (the largest in Surrey), a new Animal Interactions Barn and a new entrance and shop. It&#8217;s looking pretty spiffy. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-what-to-expect"><strong>WHAT TO EXPECT</strong></h2>



<p>Animal lovers, you&#8217;ve hit the jackpot. There&#8217;s so much cuteness to see at Godstone Farm &#8211; from rabbits and chickens to meerkats, pigs and goats. There&#8217;s even a pet shop. [Parents, I&#8217;m not joking, consider yourself forewarned.]</p>

<p>With my friends two girls leading the way, we headed straight to the Animal Interactions barn. If you follow the main path from the entrance to the barn you&#8217;ll go past a bunch of animals on the way &#8211; some of which you can feed (feed for the animals is available at the entrance). We saw goats and sheep, a turkey (not sure I&#8217;ve seen one up close &#8211; fascinating and funny-looking creature, it was), and donkeys. The girls stopped along the way to feed the goats &#8211; there&#8217;s a clever windy thing that helps you transport their food over to them. And clearly the goats know the drill, as they were patiently waiting for their snacks to arrive. </p>



<p>At the Animal Interactions barn we stroked baby ferrets (careful, they bite!), fed horses and ponies, ooh-and-ahhed at some cute fluffy ducks, and fed guinea pigs. </p>

<p>Next door is the Reptile House &#8211; and there&#8217;s a chance to get up close to these not-so-furry creatures as well. The girls were rather taken with the bearded dragon. I was less taken with the rats! The most darling little fluffy baby chickens were also wandering around in here. And in the corner, a striking iguana stretched out happily under the heat lamp.</p>



<p>So far, so incredibly charming. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-what-else">WHAT ELSE?</h2>

<p>Set aside a full day to visit Godstone Farm &#8211; there&#8217;s a lot to see and do. Moving on from the barns we followed the path past rabbit walk towards the ride-on runway, where speed-demons can get their kicks on ride-on bikes and trikes. It had been raining so we swooped on past, and into Dinosaur Discovery Trail. If you have a dino devotee, they&#8217;ll love it. There are seven dinosaurs to get up close to &#8211; from the diplodocus to the T-rex. </p>



<p>The girls were super keen to visit the oinkers, so it was off to the pig pen next. And happily it was feeding time. What fun! And what a noise they make. The girls loved it. </p>



<p>The indoor Play Barn beckoned &#8211; grey clouds were mounting and the girls were super keen to check it out. So we headed in that direction saying hello to the llamas and alpacas along the way. </p>

<p>And then, as if we&#8217;d planned it, we got to the Play Barn just as the first fat drops fell. Still bright, shiny and new &#8211; it opened at the end of 2023 &#8211; this place is a sanity saver for parents. And possibly heaven on earth for your energetic little darlings. Set out over four tiers, and with no less than seven slides, there are obstacles galore. For those with tiny smalls, there&#8217;s also a separate sensory and  baby area, and upstairs there&#8217;s a role play area. <p>The rain stopped play (for us) at the outdoor adventure playground &#8211; but you&#8217;ll find sandpits, swings, slides, climbing frames and much more here. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-and-another-thing">AND ANOTHER THING</h2>

<p>Throughout the year there is a fabulous programme of seasonal events with an action-packed schedule every school holiday period. During the summer there&#8217;s also an all-inclusive camping event, and in October there&#8217;s the lowbang fireworks. Christmas is spectacular with a magical Father Christmas experience during the festive period.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-scoff-amp-quaff">SCOFF &amp; QUAFF</h2>

<p>There&#8217;s a Courtyard Kitchen Café within the grounds of Godstone Farm which serves up a menu of hot like fish and chips, burgers and pasta, as well as hot and cold drinks and cakes.</p>



<p>Wiglets Café in the Play Barn is also a good spot to have food with a range of sandwiches and paninis, plus hot food like pulled pork, vegan meatballs and Mediterranean chicken. We indulged in sandwiches and coffee &#8211; and and maybe a cake too. </p>



<p>Picnics are also welcome at Godstone farm, and there are various spots for picnics, including an undercover picnic area near the Animal Interactions barn, and plenty of grassy slopes by the outdoor adventure play area. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-dog-friendly">DOG FRIENDLY?</h2>



<p>Only assistance dogs are allowed at Godstone Farm. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-disability-access"><strong>DISABILITY ACCESS</strong></h2>



<p>Godstone Farm is wheelchair accessible. However, as&nbsp;a working farm&nbsp;located within a green belt area, some of paths and tracks are uneven and narrow. There are disabled toilets situated around the farm, and an accredited Changing Places toilet in the Indoor Play Barn. The Play Barn also hosts SEND and quiet sessions.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-muddy-verdict">THE MUDDY VERDICT</h2>



<p><strong>Good for:</strong> Children of all ages up to about 12 or 13, especially kids who love animals and dinosaurs and parents wanting to pack their kids into the great outdoors. It&#8217;s also great for families looking for somewhere to tire the kids on a rainy day &#8211; thanks to the enormous indoor play barn. &nbsp;You can easily spend a whole day here – there’s lots going on and makes for a truly fab day out.&nbsp;It never felt too busy.</p>



<p><strong>Not for:</strong> Older teenagers may not quite be into it.</p>



<p><strong>The damage:</strong> Entry is from £14.95 adults and children aged 2-16; from £7.50 child aged 1 year; under 1 is free. <a href="https://tickets.godstonefarm.co.uk/#category_21">Pre-schooler passes</a> (0-5) are available in winter from Oct to March (inclusive) for £75 giving unlimited entry Mon-Fri in term time for a one child and one adult.</p>
