<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-kinjo-cobham-amp-takusan-oxted"><strong>Kinjo, Cobham</strong> <strong>&amp; Takusan, Oxted</strong></h2>

<p>Oxted&#8217;s neighbourhood Sushi hotspot Kinjo is expanding to Cobham with a <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C4BTMfrIHA3/?hl=en-gb">new restaurant</a> planned for later this year. The stylish eatery which was a finalist in our Muddy Awards last year are also opening a Japanese-to-go called <a href="https://www.instagram.com/takusanjapanese">Takusan</a> in Oxted on Station Road East in the old Subway site later this spring. They&#8217;re on a (sushi) roll! </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-bru-amp-bear-reigate"><strong>Bru &amp; Bear, Reigate</strong></h2>



<p>Just opened on the old Flint House site on Bell Street is a new branch of this cute café, a sister to the <a href="https://www.bruandbear.com/">Oxted</a> site, famous for their coffee and brunch menu with a twist. It&#8217;s sure to be a hit!</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-yiayias-reigate"><strong>Yiayias, Reigate</strong></h2>



<p>Also in Reigate it&#8217;s all change (but just the name!), for popular Cypriot restaurant Yiayias, which is rebranding to <a href="https://www.instagram.com/nisoureigate/">Nisou</a> due to a trademarking issue. The eatery that launched last summer will continue to serve traditional family recipes from the chic spot on Lesbourne Road.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-art-and-grind-guildford"><strong>Art and Grind, Guildford</strong></h2>

<p>Another new coffee shop &#8211; but this one with it&#8217;s own gallery! <a href="https://www.artandgrind.co.uk/">Art &amp; Grind</a> an independent &#8216;artisanal art and coffeehouse&#8217; is coming to Guildford later this year. Located on the charming cobbled high street its mission is to &#8216;serve local artists and art-loving community with the opportunity to explore what art means to them,&#8217; (while enjoying treats straight from the ovens of local bakeries and exceptional craft roasts from Surrey-based Copper Coffee Roasters.) </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-horton-epsom"><strong>The Horton, Epsom</strong> </h2>



<p>Celebrations are called for at cultural venue <a href="https://thehortonepsom.org/">The Horton</a> who have been awarded £110k + to develop their gardens and grounds that have been closed to the public for more than three decades. The arts space created within an iconic and historically significant Grade II-listed chapel hopes to have some areas ready to enjoy by the summer. <h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-gdk-epsom"><strong>GDK, Epsom</strong></h2>



<p>A new premium kebab restaurant <a href="https://www.germandonerkebab.com/">German Doner Kebab</a> (GDK), with takeaway and delivery options will open later this month in&nbsp;Epsom on the High Street,&nbsp;to become the brand’s second in Surrey after recently opened&nbsp;Woking. The chain  uses premium cuts of meat, fresh locally sourced vegetables, and sauces that are made daily in each location, as well as handmade Turkish-style bread.&nbsp;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-gail-s-weybridge"><strong>Gail&#8217;s, Weybridge</strong></h2>

<p>Boutique bakery <a href="https://gailsbread.co.uk/">Gail&#8217;s</a> is opening a new branch in Weybridge on 18 March, joining Reigate, Cobham, Guildford, Farnham, Godalming and Epsom in Surrey.  Famed for its artisanal breads and pastries they also serve hot drinks including Jing teas and coffee hand-roasted in east London. <h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-tattenham-corner-pub-near-banstead"><strong>Tattenham Corner Pub, near Banstead</strong></h2>



<p>The Surrey pub <a href="https://www.tattenhamcornerpub.co.uk/">Tattenham Corner</a> that has stunning views across the Epsom Downs and Racecourse is set to open later this year under new management after a huge glow up. Owners Young’s want to reinstate it as a proper community pub with a beer garden. Plans are afoot for a newly landscaped outside area with bookable lodges, decking and terraces, a garden bar and kitchen,&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Boccognani, Oxted</strong></p>

<p>A new fashion store has popped up in Oxted opposite Waitrose in the shape of <a href="https://www.instagram.com/boccognanifashion/">Boccognani.</a> Owned by Errol Woodhouse and Luciana Boccognani, the women’s fashion boutique is in the former home of lingerie shop Tender Trap (which has relocated to within IG Equine). Selling mid-range Italian labels, sourced by Luciana on her regular trips to Italy, the boutique bolsters Oxted fashion credentials alongside the other indie retailers, Mint, Fusspotts, Number 44, Jules, Woodward Menswear, and La Maison. </p>



<p><strong>Bocata, Oxted</strong></p>



<p>It&#8217;s all about Oxted at the moment as also opened this week (5 March) is the swishy new Spanish takeaway <a href="https://www.bocata.co.uk/">Bocata</a> &#8211; little sister to the successful Pan et Vino (which opened last year.)  Offering a changing menu of Spanish street food and delicious bocadillos (sandwiches) including jamón y queso (ham and cheese) to more creative options such as chorizo and manchego, it&#8217;s sure to be <em>de moda</em>.</p>



<p><strong>Sad goodbyes</strong></p>



<p>But it&#8217;s sadly farewell to two other Oxted institutions as Lorimers and Toy Box both close this spring. Watch this space for the newbies that will take over their spaces!</p>
