ART: Architectural Practice and the Climate

Join architect Julia Barfield as The Lightbox shines a light on the #ArtForYourWorld campaign to celebrate WWF’s 60th anniversary and COP26. The campaign aims to raise awareness of the current climate crisis by creating a connection between art and the environment.

Something special and unique! Persephone, Hypsipyle, Medea, Alcestis, Phaedra, Creusa and Demeter: the women of Euripides’ plays are reimagined as people of today in an unexpected fusion of celebrity, inappropriate desires, historical police investigations and missing children.

MUSIC: Kiki Dee & Carmelo Luggeri: The Long Road Home

For almost two decades, Kiki and Carmelo have been touring their acoustic live show across the UK and Europe. This promises to be another collection of haunting, emotional and stunning songs that will please their army of friends and fans.

ART: In Print: Into Night

This exhibition of new work by contemporary British printmakers focuses on the wonder and beauty of night time in different printmaking techniques exploring what happens after dark.

The critically-acclaimed Flinch comes to Guildford for one night before a short UK tour ahead of a limited run at the Pleasance Theatre in London.

This darkly comic play about the struggle for intimacy is by writer and performer Emma Hemingford. It opened in London pre-Covid in 2019 to rave reviews. The Guardian says it’s ‘a promising debut that gets under the skin of a troubled relationship‘.

Based on the heart-warming book by Eoin McLaughlin and Polly Dunbar, enjoy this on-stage adaption by The Long Noise Puppets as a Hedgehog and a Tortoise both set off in search of a restorative hug.

FIREWORKS: Magical Movie Fireworks (SOLD OUT)
■ Lingfield Park Racecourse, Lingfield ■ Sat 6 Nov
This fireworks display kicks off at 7.30pm to the sound of magical movie classic tunes! Before that, kids can enjoy free face painting and there will be a whole host of food outlets to fill your boots with, in addition to a funfair and the big bonfire.

THEATRE: Mrs Churchill – My Life with Winston

You’ve heard of Winston Churchill, but what about his wife, Clementine? This portrayal of Mrs Churchill by Liz Grand will answer some of the many questions surrounding the spouse of Britain’s wartime prime minister.

KIDS: Snowsaurus

Following the success of 2020’s kid’s trail ‘Snowfari’, head to Painshill for this year’s event – Snowsaurus! Walk the trail and discover dinosaurs galore including a huge T-Rex.

HISTORY: Military Vehicles Day

EXHIBITION: The Regency Wardrobe – Sculptures by the House of Embroidered Paper
■ Chertsey Museum, Chertsey ■ now until 26 Feb 2022
Decorative paper textile artist Stephanie Smart brings part of her collection of hand embroidered paper dresses to Chertsey. Each one of the dresses has been meticulously hand crafted using paper and thread – and plenty of patience.
