<p><a href="https://brooklandshotelsurrey.com/eat-drink/vetro-pizza-pasta/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Vetro</a> is Weybridge’s shiny new go-to for pizza and pasta, set within the striking 1907 Glasshouse Restaurant at Brooklands Hotel. (Vetro, meaning “glass” in Italian, is a neat nod to its light-filled, design-led setting.)</p>



<p>The hotel itself is a bit of a local icon, sitting on the site of the legendary Brooklands race track – <em>the</em> place to see and be seen in the roaring 1920s and ’30s. Today, that heritage still lingers, giving the whole place a quietly glamorous, revved-up edge.</p>



<p>There’s plenty to explore on the doorstep, too. Mercedes-Benz World is just across the road, while Brooklands Museum – home to vintage racing cars, motorbikes, aircraft and even the first Concorde – is a five-minute stroll away.</p>



<p>Location-wise, it’s a dream: around 20 minutes from London, under 30 from Heathrow, and an easy hop from the M25 and A3. Weybridge Station, with direct trains to London Waterloo, is a quick 10-minute taxi ride.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-vibe">THE VIBE</h2>

<p>Al fresco dining, but make it Surrey-smart. Vetro, in the 1907 Glasshouse, delivers all the joys of eating outdoors without the British weather ruining the party – think retractable roof, fully opening glass walls, and not a raincloud in sight.</p>



<p>Design-wise, it’s a slick nod to Brooklands’ roaring racing heyday. Expect glossy modernist interiors with a strong Art Deco lean, lifted by playful touches that wink to its motoring and aviation past – from a statement chrome propeller in the bar to banquette seating that subtly echoes a race track curve.</p>



<p>The Glasshouse itself is a seamless extension of the award-winning restaurant, with floor-to-ceiling windows that slide right back when the sun makes an appearance. It’s all very polished, very put-together – exactly what you’d expect from a hotel of this calibre.</p>



<p>On a sunny day, it really comes into its own. Light floods in, the roof peels back, and you’ve got front-row views of the Mercedes-Benz track for a little extra drama. Chic, airy, and quietly glamorous – this is alfresco dining done properly.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-scoff-amp-quaff">SCOFF &amp; QUAFF</h2>

<p>Let’s get straight to it: the pizzas at Vetro are <em>very</em> good. Properly good. Stone-baked, generously topped, and a welcome step up from the usual meat feast suspects. Even better, they come with a playful nod to Brooklands’ racing heritage – think names like the Locke-King, Selwyn Edge and Count Louis.</p>



<p>Beyond pizza, the Vetro menu is a crowd-pleasing mix of pastas, risotto and indulgent puds. The pasta offering is particularly fun – choose your base (tonnarelli, pappardelle, paccheri or gnocchi), then your sauce (Alfredo, beef ragù or scarpariello), with extras like grilled chicken, tiger prawns or pancetta if you’re feeling fancy.</p>

<p>We kicked off with the Parmigiano &amp; Garlic Butter Dough Bites and… wow. Utter carb heaven. Pillowy-soft dough, drenched in a gloriously salty, garlicky, cheesy butter – dangerously moreish.</p>

<p>For mains, it was pizza all round. The Locke-King (named after Brooklands’ founder) piled high with tomato, mozzarella, pepperoni, sausage and shredded duck – a full-throttle flavour hit and a firm favourite with my pizza-obsessed daughter. I went for The Vanguard: a veggie number with goat’s cheese, red onion chutney and rocket that felt just virtuous enough (but still seriously indulgent). The bases? Spot on – crisp on the outside, soft and chewy within.</p>

<p>And pudding? Obviously. A fresh fruit salad with mango sorbet for me (balance, darling), and a Madagascan crème brûlée for my daughter. Both hit the sweet spot perfectly.</p>

<p>Sadly not – it’s assistance dogs only here, so your four-legged plus-one will have to sit this one out.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-disability-access">DISABILITY ACCESS</h2>



<p>There’s lift access throughout the hotel, and the ground floor is nicely level, with the entrance, bar and restaurant all on one floor. There are also spacious accessible bedrooms with widened doorways for wheelchair access, along with wet room bathrooms – making stays here as smooth and comfortable as possible.</p>

<p>It would be rude not to lean into the area’s rich motor racing and aviation heritage – and <a href="https://www.brooklandsmuseum.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Brooklands Museum</a> is the star of the show. Just a five-minute stroll (or a very quick drive) from the hotel, it’s home to an impressive collection of vintage racing cars, motorbikes and aircraft, including the legendary Concorde. It’s the kind of place you think you’ll “just pop into” and end up happily lingering far longer.</p>



<p>Mercedes-Benz World sits just across the road if you fancy extending the theme – entry is free for the exhibits, while driving experiences need to be booked in advance.</p>



<p>If you’re venturing further afield, Legoland Windsor and Painshill’s dreamy 18th-century landscaped gardens are both within easy reach. Or, for something a little more indulgent, do as I did and retreat to the <a href="https://brooklandshotelsurrey.com/bspa/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">BSpa</a> at Brooklands for a well-earned dose of R&amp;R.</p>

<p><strong>Good for:</strong> Date nights, mate nights, family get-togethers and low-key celebrations. The vibe is spot-on and the food is all about feel-good, crowd-pleasing comfort.</p>



<p><strong>Not for:</strong> If you’re after stiff white tablecloths and fine-dining formality, this isn’t it. It’s warm, relaxed and family-friendly – the kind of place where you can properly switch off and take your time.</p>



<p><strong>The damage:</strong> Stuzzichini (little snacks) are from £4.95-£7.95. Pizzas are all £15 each, with addtional toppings from an extra £2.50-£4 extra. Pasta is from £14.95-£19.50. Puddings are £9.50-£12.50.</p>
