Want some goss on the latest movers, shakers and candlestickmakers? (er, hang on, one of those isn’t right…). Read on, my friends, read on!

Unless your head has been under a rock, you’ll now that legendary London restaurant The Ivy is coming to Guilford! (*thud*) A branch of the celeb-magnet hotspot opens in the new Tunsgate Quarter shopping centre on Wednesday April 4, adding a dash of glamour to the area.

The Ivy Castle View – just a stone’s throw from the Guildford castle and the pretty River Wey – will span across two floors, and feature a first-floor private dining room and bar seating 30 guests with its own covered private terrace. The second floor will feature the main restaurant, complete with a striking central bar and a Parisian style outdoor terrace. Tres chic!

Needless to say you will find Muddy at the bar sipping my usual Espresso Martini and exchanging bon mots with Angelina Jolie and Christopher Biggins. Come and join me if you think your liver is hard enough.

The event for small people and their families, and it sells out waaay in advance every year so here’s your early shout out. It’s an epic obstacle course of 30 individual challenges over 3km course of streams, woodland and mud near Guildford.

This year the event will be held at the Wintershall Estate, Bramley on May 12 and 13. There will be a Festival Village with outdoor play opportunities for all the family, including Laser Tag, live music, drumming workshops, circus skills, pony rides, and of course yummy food.

The washing won’t be pretty but you’ll have a blast getting muddy. If you miss out on tickets for the Surrey event, there are also events in Oxfordshire (June), Hertfordshire (July) and Kent (September).
