First in at The Ivy
It was preview night at Guildford's The Ivy Castle View last night and wow, they’ve served up a right blinder.
We came, we saw, we drank and we rubbed shoulders with a few c’lebs. We were, of course, at the preview night of The Ivy Castle View in Guildford last night. And – wow – they served up a blinder
Many Champagnes were downed before we moved onto the Silent Pool gin cocktails (apparently one doesn’t eat the rose petal, whoops). Canapés were snaffled (truffle arancini anyone? And sorbet dipped in white chocolate – OMG!). And inhibitions were shed as the crowd forgot about the drizzlyrain out the windows and partied like bright, young things.
VIPs – apart from the Muddy contingent, obvs! – included newsreader and last year’s Strictly star Charlotte Hawkins, telly presenter Amanda Lamb, actress Emma Barton, sports presenter Jacqui Oatley, and a few sporting types (well hello Harlequin rugby dudes!) including Olympian Roger Black. The Muddy team fit right in!
And while the beautiful people mingled, that fabulous Ivy decor couldn’t fail to impress – a cocktail of art deco and ocean-liner glamour with a hefty relaxed, let’s-have-a-laugh vibe. Every detail from the resplendent central bar and long velvet couches down the the cute retro lamps were perfecto.
The Ivy Castle View opens officially on Wed 4 April – and Muddy returns for lunch about a week after that (so keep your eyes peeled for the review).
Save me a swivel stool and make mine a Champagne Cocktail!
