<p>Since electro pop starlet <strong>Charli XCX</strong> was papped filming her mocumentary, <em>The Moment</em>, in London last week (with <strong>Alexander Skarsgård </strong>no less) we’ve been in the mood for a splashy celebrity documentary bingeathon. All we know about <em>The Moment</em> so far is that Charli is producing, starring, and it’s about a singer embarking on their first headline tour – talk about art imitating life. While we eagerly await more deets, here’s the latest releases and some rather special ones to have on your radar.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-house-of-vb-netflix-tbc"><em>House of VB</em>, Netflix, TBC</h2>

<p>After the success of David Beckham’s documentary charting his football career, and<em> that</em> viral Rolls-Royce comment from Queen V herself, it was only a matter of time before Victoria got her turn in the spotlight. <strong><em>House of VB</em></strong> is rumoured to be released later this year and follows the pop star turned fashion designer as she juggles her business with family life. Brought to you by the Emmy and BAFTA nominated filmmakers, Nicola Howson and Julia Nottingham, this promises to get up close and personal with Posh like never before.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-librarians-tbc"><em>The Librarians</em>, TBC</h2>

<p>Self-professed bookworm, Sarah Jessica Parker, is executive producer on this up-coming documentary which received a standing ovation at Sundance where it premiered. You guessed it, it’s about librarians, but specifically a group in Florida and Texas who are fighting back against the proposed ban of more than 800 books, due to their depictions of gender and race. The documentary follows their efforts amidst verbal harassment and physical threats of harm. Powerful stuff.</p>

<p>For the first time in his 50-year career, Eddie Murphy is opening up his home and taking us on a walk down memory lane. Along with former co-stars, directors, friends, family and fellow comics, Murphy reminisces about his meteoric rise to fame. From teen comic and&nbsp;<em>Saturday Night Live</em>&nbsp;breakout star to king of stand up comedy and Oscar-nominated actor,&nbsp;<strong><em>EDDIE</em></strong>&nbsp;bares all.</p>

<p>Sky Arts’&nbsp;<strong><em>Sisters of Disruption</em></strong>&nbsp;season celebrates pioneering women artists with a collection of documentaries exploring their extraordinary lives and their contributions to their craft. Among them, Hollywood icon Greta Garbo, unapologetic rocker Anita Pallenberg, literary disruptors The Brontës, art activists The Guerrilla Girls, legendary cellist Jacqueline du Pré, Turner Prize-winner Lubaina Himid, tour-de-force Maggi Hambling, and controversial Irish author Edna O’Brien. Talk about #girlpower.</p>

<p>The only reason we now show the slightest bit of interest in lower league football is thanks to Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. The Hollywood duo are back soon with another documentary about their Hollywood bail-out of Wrexham FC and the club’s promotion to League 1 (and a third consecutive promotion to the Championship on the cards). The pressure is<em>&nbsp;on</em>&nbsp;this season as the team strive to rise further through the ranks, while injury and demanding fans stunt progress. We’re not sure if it’s the A-listers, the rags-to-riches story of the team or the sense of community but we, like the rest of the nation, have a soft spot for Wrexham.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Bonjourno, Tucci! Since we watched him make the meanest negroni during lockdown, whatever Stanley Tucci is whipping up in the kitchen we are first in line to sample. On his latest culinary mission he is traversing Italy exploring the connection between the land, the local people and the food. A mission. which takes him from Tuscany and Lombardy to Trentino-Alto Adige, Abruzzo, and Lazio. Bring on the carbs.</p>

<p><strong><em>Stories of Surrender</em></strong>&nbsp;is an immersive reimagining of Bono’s one man stage show of the same name which pulls back the curtain on his remarkable life and career. The singer and activist shares personal stories about the family, friends and faith which have sustained, and challenged, him over the years as well as insight into his personal life. The doc also features never-before-seen, exclusive footage and performances from the Beacon Theatre shows. A must-watch for U2 fans.</p>

<p>Featuring never-before-seen material and newly restored footage, this immersive documentary brings to life John Lennon’s only full-length, post-Beatles concert; the&nbsp;<strong><em>One to One</em></strong>&nbsp;benefit in Madison Square Garden in 1972. Using this momentous concert as a jumping off point, filmmaker, Kevin Macdonald, explores those defining months in the lives of&nbsp;Lennon&nbsp;and&nbsp;Yoko Ono as they adjust to life in the States and prepare for the concert. Compelling and bittersweet in equal measure.</p>

<p>Don your feathers, sequins and platforms for fix of fabulous courtesy of Elton John. This dazzling doc – directed by his husband David Furnish and RJ Cutler – takes a candid look back at the highs and lows of Elton’s phenomenal career. Based on the interview he gave the journalist Alexis Petridis for his memoir, <strong><em>Never Too Late </em></strong>features archive footage and recent interviews with Elton as he gears up for his final North American concert at the iconic Dodger Stadium. Particularly poignant given Elton John’s recent admission about his eyesight.</p>
