<p>Well well. It looks like Surrey has just gained a seriously famous new neighbour. Word on the (very leafy) street is that Ant McPartlin &#8211; one half of the nation’s favourite double act &#8211; has officially swapped London life for a glossy new £10m mansion in north Surrey. Our super spies tell us, Cobham is where he&#8217;s at.</p>



<p>After a much-reported planning spat with neighbours, the Britain’s Got Talent star quietly offloaded his seven-bedroom Wimbledon home last year, striking a deal with a Scottish millionaire buyer. Fast forward, and Ant has now been spotted settling into a sleek new-build mansion with wife Anne-Marie and their young son, Wilder &#8211; confirming what many suspected: the London chapter is closed.</p>



<p>Locals have already clocked sightings in the village, so it seems Ant is very much embracing Surrey life. Keep your eyes peeled… and do let us know if you spot him on the school run or popping out for a coffee.</p>

<p>SquareMeal has revealed its top 100 restaurants for 2026 – and one of our favourites has made the list! <a href="https://thevictoriaoxshott.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Victoria</a> in Oxshott caught the foodie site’s eye, praised as “a welcoming gastropub serving comforting British classics with head chef Daniel Lee’s cooking a grade (or three) above typical pub fare. Menus are perfectly executed and full of surprises, from crispy pigs head to caramelised apple crumble rice pudding.”</p>



<p>We couldn’t agree more – having <a href="https://surrey.muddystilettos.co.uk/eat-out/pubs-inns/review-the-victoria-oxshott/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">visited ourselves</a>, it’s exactly the kind of place that makes you want to linger over every course, and maybe even order dessert first.</p>

<p>Another Surrey winner to toast… <a href="https://www.bluesardinia.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Blue Sardinia</a> in Guildford has just scooped the accolade for best wine list in the world (outside Italy).</p>



<p>The niche annual awards, held in Milan, cover everything from 3-star Michelin restaurants to bistros, with a judging panel of Italy’s most influential food and wine critics. They hailed Blue Sardinia’s list as one of the most profound and deeply flavoured around, featuring wines from every Italian region and carefully selected native grapes.</p>

<p>It’s all happening in the Dorking pub scene – <a href="https://www.queensheaddorking.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Queen’s Head</a>, in the centre of town, has reopened under new management with a refreshed, dog-friendly vibe. Until recently it was part of the Little and Large Pub Group, which also owns The Running Horses in Mickleham, plus one pub in Kent and another in Brockley, South East London.</p>



<p>Housed in a historic 18th-century former coaching inn dating back to the 1780s, the Queen’s Head has just launched a new Sunday roast menu in partnership with the Butcher’s Block in Banstead, alongside classic pub favourites. Open Wednesday to Sunday, it’s a spot where four-legged friends are just as welcome as two-legged ones – and a place where a little local history meets your pint glass.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-you-can-t-always-get-what-you-want-but-the-wooden-bridge-is-open">You Can’t Always Get What You Want… but The Wooden Bridge is open</h2>



<p>Guildford’s iconic Wooden Bridge – the pub that once hosted the Rolling Stones and Status Quo – is set to re-open any day now, following a month-long, six-figure spruce up inside and out.</p>



<p>First opened in 1936 as a hotel, the venue became a buzzing music spot in the 1960s. Greene King, the current owners, say the updated pub will continue to welcome sports fans, families, and anyone looking for a classic pint in a legendary setting.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-music-therapy-hits-the-spotlight-at-the-horton">Music therapy hits the spotlight at The Horton</h2>

<p>Congratulations to The Horton in Epsom – the arts venue has just scored a whopping £212,715 Heritage Fund grant from The National Lottery.</p>



<p>The funding will go towards a major new project, <a href="https://thehortonepsom.org/news/major-heritage-fund-grant-for-the-hortons-music-therapy-history/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Music of Life</a>, celebrating the 70th anniversary of pioneering music therapy that began at the historic Horton Hospital. The Horton has a fascinating past – it’s the restored Grade II-listed chapel of the Horton Asylum, part of the massive 1,000-acre Epsom Cluster of five psychiatric hospitals. Built in 1901, the site has served as a mental health institution, a war hospital, and even a pioneering malaria research centre, before finally closing in the 1990s.</p>



<p>The Music of Life programme famously transformed mental health care, proving just how powerful the arts can be in changing lives – and now Horton is bringing that legacy back into the spotlight.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-and-finally">And finally &#8230; </h2>



<p>It’s a bittersweet farewell to Oxted Desserts (formerly Dessert Spot) on Station Road West, which closed its doors last week. Locals will be sad to see the ice cream parlour and craft venue go.</p>
