<p>It&#8217;s huge congrats and extra sprinkles for local dessert spot The Scoop Company. The ice cream parlour in Warlingham has just scooped (see what we did there?) the award for best Ice Cream Parlour in the UK no less. Presented by the Ice Cream Alliance, the award recognises the best in the country. It&#8217;s judged on a rigorous set of criteria including quality, creativity, and innovation. Sweet!</p>

<p>Fans of the award-winning Whoop Fitness &amp; Wellbeing were in for a surprise at the weekend when founder Emily Watson called her crew together for what they thought was a celebration of wellbeing. What they got instead was the reveal of a brand-new identity for their much-loved fitness community. Whoop  has officially rebranded as Jollily — a name that fuses <em>jolly</em> and <em>Emily</em> (its founder). Jollily and captures everything the brand stands for: empowerment, community, and movement that feels good. Emily offers a holistic approach to fitness and wellbeing. Her classes create space for women to feel seen, safe and strong. Having personally navigated post-natal depression and anxiety, she is a passionate advocate for women’s mental health — and that focus will continue under the Jollily name.</p>

<p>Eco Queens will love the new zero waste shop set to open on Church Street in Godalming soon. It&#8217;s a friendly little store providing environmentally conscious refills of household, bathroom and cosmetic products. There will also be gifts from local makers and artists. <p>Just opened on Queens Road on the site of Mimi’s is an exciting new restaurant promising a “bold reinvention of British cuisine.” The Cornelian is family run with top end cuisine. <p>Pilates fans rejoice as Reformer is coming to Oxted! Back to Fitness Sports Therapy already has a successful clinic in Purley. But they&#8217;re now opening a new hub next to Waitrose in Oxted with the addition of reformer Pilates machines. With a multidisciplinary Sports Injury Clinic, dealing with musculoskeletal injuries (sporting and non-sporting), they will also provide sports massage and yoga classes.</p>

<p>Foodie news just in! Michelin-starred chef Alex Payne has been appointed Chef Patron at Sorrel in Dorking. Formerly at the Michelin-starred Tudor Pass at Great Fosters Hotel in Egham, Alex will bring his culinary magic to his new role. Alex earned his first Michelin star just six months after he arrived at the Tudor Pass, along with four AA Rosettes and the No. 3 spot on TripAdvisor’s Best of the Best Fine Dining Restaurants in the UK, a testament to his exceptional talent and dedication. His career includes time in the kitchens of celebrated chefs such as Heston Blumenthal and Gordon Ramsay, so locals in Dorking are in for a treat.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-surrey-entrepreneur-recognised"><strong>Surrey Entrepreneur recognised</strong></h2>



<p>There are more Surrey celebrations for Cara Sayer, inventor of <a href="https://www.snoozeshade.com/pages/about-us">SnoozeShade</a> who has been named a finalist in the 2025 Allica Bank Great British Entrepreneur Awards, in the Maker &amp; Creator category. Often dubbed “The Grammys of Entrepreneurship,” the awards shine a light on the UK’s most inspiring business journeys. Cara, from Walton-on-Thames in Surrey launched her business in  2010&nbsp;after struggling to shield her own baby daughter, Holly, from the sun.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-wheatsheaf-farnham"><strong>Wheatsheaf, Farnham</strong></h2>



<p>But it’s sad news from Farnham as the Wheatsheaf pub has unfortunately closed it’s doors less than a year after it’s ambitious relaunch. The pub on West Street blamed lack of investment and support for the sad closure.</p>
